Feeding The Birds
Feeding The Birds
I enjoy watching and feeding the birds in our backyard. This hummingbird feeder is a new style, a rectangular shape, and I like how much easier it is to fill and clean than the bottle type. It’s self explanatory how to set it up but it does come with well written instructions also. The feeder can be mounted to a window with the enclosed suction cups or hang from a tree or hook.
I have a shepherd hook and it’s perfect to hang the hummingbird feeder on that. I attached the four metal chains to the holes on the edge of the feeder and adjusted the length so it would hang flat. I looped the top hook over the shepherd hook and patiently waiting for the birds to arrive.
The other option is to attach the two suction cups to the suction bar and after moistening them, push on the window. The feeder slips over the suction bar and you can view the birds from your window.
I have never seen a hummingbird feeder with a moat! This one has a moat around the edge to keep crawling insects from getting into the hummingbird nectar, such a great idea to keep the ants away!
The top of the feeder has five feeder ports for the birds to drink from after adding the mixture to the dish plus it has a perch on each side for the birds to rest on. The bright red lid to attract the hummingbirds snaps on the dish and when it’s ready to add more mixture, I clean it with the little brush that is included with the feeder. The cone shaped bristles are soft and perfect for cleaning the ports.
I like how the Sherwoodbase Hummingbird Feeder gives tips on picking a location for the feeder, maintaining the feeder and it even has a recipe to make your own nectar mixture.
I always enjoy watching the birds and I’m very pleased with the quality and construction of this feeder that I received in exchange for my honest review. I’m patiently waiting to be able to capture a picture of the birds drinking from their new feeder.
