F is for Flowers
F is for Flowers
Flowers can make people smile and bring joy and happiness to sometimes a bad day. We planted wild flowers in our backyard and the sunflowers were so big and beautiful. Of course, I had to add a bit of humor to this one. It’s no wonder I would pick ‘F is for Flowers’ for my A to Z April blog challenge since I love to see the flowers from bud to bloom. It was a toss up to write about Fabric since that is my line of work or Flowers since my hubby has such a green thumb and grows the most gorgeous flowers. Once again, my grandson was the tie breaker telling me flowers it is because he knows how much I love them.
We have a variety of flowers in our backyard from the azalea bushes that bloom in the early spring, the roses that start early and last up until October, the gorgeous lilies and iris, just to name a few. I love to photograph the buds with dew on them and the closeup of the azaleas look like little diamonds in the center.
It’s amazing to watch our lily plant start to peek out of the ground and it’s so glorious when it blooms.
Honeysuckle has such a lovely fragrance and it grows wild over our back fence. The flowers remind me of praying hands. It’s a “hangout” for the hummingbirds and butterflies.
These are just a few photographs of some of our beautiful roses. I like to snap photos when the dew is still on them.
While they are not flowers but still pretty, in the winter we have two holly bushes loaded with holly berries for the birds. The center picture is from an ice storm we had in the south a few years ago, the holly berries are in-cased in ice! We also have a Nandina bush, these are known for their fall foliage, with striking red colors which stay throughout the winter. The Nandina also has reddish/orange berries and the bush is sometimes called “Heavenly Bamboo”.
When my mom passed away in 2000, we planted a memory garden for her since she also loved flowers. The Carolina Jasmine and mom’s favorite azalea are beautiful when they bloom. I know mom is smiling down at the beautiful flowers.
I hope you are enjoying my alphabet blog for the A to Z April Blog Challenge The challenge is to write a blog starting with the first letter of the alphabet on day one and continue through the month every day except Sunday. Yesterday my blog was E is For Eggs where I wrote about yummy ways to make eggs. There are just the right number of letters as the number of days in the month. So tomorrow I will blog about the next letter. See you tomorrow!

what beautiful floral pictures! Here on the Canadian border, we are far behind you. The daffodils are just starting to bloom, but it keeps getting cold again because winter doesn’t want to let go!
Thank you Alice, I’m like a kid in a candy store when I go check the buds and blooms to see how they are progressing. I love flowers, they seem to bring smiles to people. Thanks for visiting!
Beautiful flowers, especially the azalea for your mum – very special.
Thank you Pamela, I go out to the garden everyday and I can almost her my mom. I sure do miss her but she is forever in my heart. Thanks for stopping by.
Such lovely pictures.
FLowers always make me happy. Loved this post
Thanks Dee Dee for the compliment. I love going outside early morning just to see how the buds have changed overnight. When in season, hubby has a rose on the table every morning for me. Thanks for visiting my garden!
