Exciting Trip to Maine

I just returned from an exciting trip to Maine with mommy, ma and pop! My Aunt Nancy lives in Augusta Maine so she was our tour guide when we visited some sites. This is the perfect story for my Friday Story Time by Lia!

It was a long drive from South Carolina to Maine but I go to see my name on a billboard in Massachusetts! When we went to Schenectady New York in July, we found a few Lia Car dealerships! I even went inside and got some pens, keyholders and got a picture of me with the manager! Well they also have dealerships in Massachusetts so ma snapped this picture when we stopped at a rest area there. It was so cool to see my name spelled the same way as the car dealership!

We made it to Maine and after I checked out our lodge, I saw a long bridge going over to an island. Since I had been riding for so long, I was ready to take a run across the bridge! But guess what else I found? There was a little playground too! As I was checking things out, I saw a chipmunk so I asked ma to borrow her phone so I could take a picture of the cute little critter.

Aunt Nancy was waiting for us when we arrived and of course so was excited when I gave her a box of cookies I made for her.

There were lots of docks and boats on the lake and pop was so excited when we saw the loons!! They swam over every morning and would dive under the water to get food then come up and flap their wings!

As we were sitting on the shore, we were the Loons calling! If you listen closely, you’ll hear them calling three times. Pop was so happy!!

I love seeing spider webs but the ones I saw in Maine were huge! The spiders built most of them on the boats! I think the are so cool how the spiders make their webs. The leaves are turning all colors too, aren’t the pretty?

Monday morning we took a drive and saw the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory. This is the only observatory bridge in the Western Hemisphere and the tallest in the world. You can climb all the way up to the top of the tower but we didn’t do that this trip. Maybe next time!

As pop drove over the big bridge, he opened the sun roof and I got a picture of the top of the bridge.

If you look behind the flower in the first picture you will see a Monarch butterfly! They are endangered and milkweed are the only plants they lay their eggs on. There was so much milkweed growing on the banks by the bridge and Nancy said they urge people to take the dried pods home and plant. So that’s what we did and I’ll have another story about that in the future!

After we left the bridge it was time to continue our drive to Arcadia National Park at Bar Harbor. WOW is the ocean so different in Maine compared to our ocean! We have sandy beaches while Maine has rocks growing right out of the water! Plus the ocean water is so blue! Nancy and I hiked down the rocks to get a better view on the ocean.

High tide was just coming in so Thunder Hole wasn’t full yet but as the ocean water comes in from this angle plus the other side where it turns into a cave, the water sounds like thunder as it goes back out to the ocean. This picture is what it looks like at high tide! It was so much fun walking on the rocks and seeing the ocean in Maine.

Look at all the pumpkinks! The next day we went to an apple farm and saw all these pumpkins plus bought some Maine apples. I love apples and ate one right away!

Our next stop was to a dairy farm! We arrived just as the cows were walking up the path to the barn to be milked.

The farmer invited us in to see how the cows are milked. They have big milking machines that hook to the cows to get their milk. While they are milking, they have grain to eat. If you look close in the last picture you can see the milk going through the tubes to a big storage unit. Look at the cow saying hi to me! The milk they sell is right from the cow! Ma told me when she was younger she would visit her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm and help milk their cows and drank milk right from the cow!

These bottles of milk have a layer of cream on top of them that you have to scoop out before you pour the milk. I learned so much about cows and how we get milk while visiting the farm!

Of course a trip to Maine wouldn’t be complete without see fresh Maine lobsters! I saw a huge tank of lobsters swimming around and I even got to pet one!

I hope you enjoyed my Friday Story Time by Lia about my exciting trip to Maine! Now do you know what tomorrow is? It’s October 1st, the start of the October Ultimate Blog Challenge!
