Eight Years Later
On July 3rd I had my gallbladder removed and yesterday I had my post-op checkup which I passed with flying colors! The doctor was very pleased with how well I was doing, hardly no “bad” side effects that I was told might happen. I have made some delicious healthy dinners in the past two weeks and I don’t even have any bloat after eating. So now for my story about eight years later.
Back in 2015 I had severe pain and bloating that started as I was eating and lasted a few hours. After tests, I was diagnosed with acid reflux and GERD and put on medication to help. Well it didn’t really help but I lived with the discomfort. Fast forward to 2018 when I was diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Now I don’t like to take medication so I researched and found I could help control this with diet. The main things to go were sugar, white bread, rice and potatoes. So it was in 2018 when I went on my healthy eating plan. It wasn’t a diet, it was a plan to eat healthy.
Just through my new eating habits I managed to get the NAFLD under control. I quit my daily extra large McD sweet tea (which was actually just cup of sugar} cold turkey and haven’t had sugary drinks since 2018! Instead I drink water and sometimes I add fresh or frozen berries to it just to add a bit of flavor.
So now fast forward to 2023, eight years later from when I was diagnosed with acid reflux. since I had my gallbladder removed all the pain, bloating, and itching under my skin are gone! They said my gallbladder was so full of stones and sludge that surgeon thinks it’s been there for quite some time. I’m wondering if all this time with bloat, pain and being so uncomfortable after eating if it was my gallbladder all the time.

You made it sound so easy Martha but I am sure it must have been a long haul.
The longest part was not really knowing why all the bloating and being so uncomfortable feeling Amrita. I diagnosed it as having gallbladder problems all the time the doctors told me it was acid reflux. But the pain and bloating are now gone!
