Easter Basket Ideas
Easter basket ideas may be a bit off the norm this year but I came up with a few suggestions. Since many won’t be able to get out and do shopping for goodies to fill the Easter basket, we have to be creative. These are a few thoughts I came up with.
Print Out Coloring Pages
There are many internet sites that you can print out coloring pages and games. On the Hooray Heroes site you can even personalize the coloring book with hair style and even glasses or freckles plus add your child’s name!
After you print the coloring pages, carefully roll the paper and tie with a ribbon.
Here are a few other sites that you can print. At of the time of writing this blog all the sites were still working. https://explorer.compassion.com/coloringbook https://www.melissaanddoug.com/blogpost/?postId=10-free-printables-time-to-get-artsy&message_id
Creative Way to Wrap Gift Cards
There are sites online where you can purchase and print out gift cards. That’s another great idea for the baskets. But be creative with them, don’t just fold it and put in an envelope. Check out my creative way to wrap gift cards! http://themarthareview.com/creative-way-to-wrap-gift-cards/
Plastic Eggs & Pill Bottles
If you’re like me and save things, you may have a head start. Last year I got over 100 plastic eggs and used some for Lia’s 1st Easter. I saved them so they will be great to fill with little pieces of candy, jewelry or even money. Check your cupboards for hidden candy! This is great for the Easter basket or an egg hunt!
Be creative, use small pill bottles (washed and remove label of course), wrap a ribbon around it and put cereal in them as little treats.
Ideas if no Easter Basket available
You don’t need an actual Easter Basket, you can use a bucket, a pail or decorate a flower pot. Plastic pails are great because the little ones can now have something to take to the beach or play in the sand with. Our two grandsons should enjoy digging on the sand with these.
Shortly after Christmas I got a Unicorn basket at Walmart for $5.00. At the time I thought it would be perfect for Lia’s room as a laundry basket, waste can or even a small toy basket. Well first it’s going to be her Easter basket! I had accumulated some items so her basket is filled with butterfly wings, butterfly backpack and a few other little things. But I also put a frying pan, spatula and apron in the basket! I’ve had an Ozeri cooking set for a few years and now that she loves to cook, it’s the perfect time to give it to her.
Cookie Mix in a Jar
If your kiddos like to bake take a Mason jar (a spaghetti sauce jar works great) and dump a dry cake mix in the jar. This is a super easy cookie recipe. After putting the top on, add a ribbon around the neck of the jar. Write the recipe on a piece of paper and tape to the jar. It’s so easy, just add 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of oil to a bowl with the dry cake mix. Mix all together and drop my spoonfuls on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. My G-granddaughter loves making this recipe from both the white or chocolate mix. For a variety you can add sprinkles into the mix or just on top. Roll the chocolate ones in confectioners sugar! This is great to add to the Easter basket and then have a baking day with your children/grandchildren. HINT: If you divide the batter and recipe in half you can make 2 jars of the mix.
Easter Cake
So head to your storage room, you kitchen or pantry and see how creative you can be for making Easter Baskets!
A few years ago I ended up in the hospital and missed making Easter dinner. But I had already made my Easter cake! Check out my cute Easter Cake recipe in my blog. http://themarthareview.com/no-easter-dinner/
Great ideas…Easter this year is definitely going to be different. It will be neat to see how families celebrate them.
