Don’t Throw the Butter Wrappers Away
This week I’ve been sharing some Organizing Tips and More. While today’s blog isn’t organizing, I’ll use the More for this blog! I’ve been writing about how I’ve been purging and throwing away old storage containers but today I’m going to tell you don’t throw the butter wrappers away. Now you might be wondering why would I save butter wrappers??? Well I found a few good uses for them!
Lia and I always bake with butter and we need to spray or wipe the pans with oil before adding the batter. Well I came up with the idea to use a butter wrap and wipe the excess butter on the cake pan!
I found a recipe for cheese bread on Facebook and I tried it yesterday, it was delicious! I used a butter wrapper to wipe the baking pan for the bread and when it was finished baking, the bread popped right out of the pan with a buttery taste. This is a great way to not waste the butter left on the wrapper especially since the prices are so high!
Here’s my delicious cheese bread and the recipe in case you want to use a super easy bread recipe without yeast. The only thing I did different was I coated the top of the dough with butter before I baked it. I set the oven for 35 minutes instead of 45 and then adding another 5 minutes and it was baked to perfection! Of course this is best eaten right out of the oven smothered with more butter.
Butter is always better and I don’t like to waste even the small amount on the wrapper. It also works great when making a casserole, just rub the empty wrapper on the pan and give what ever you are baking a buttery taste. You can wipe a baking pan, a frying pan or even wipe on a piece of toast! Now I can toss the butter wrappers away after I’m finished wiping!
That looks super yummy! You might like my Easy Popover Recipe I just recently did. It doesn’t have yeast either!
I use to always save my butter wrappers lol! It’s a good idea!
I just read your blog about your popovers Jean, I’m definitely going to be trying them!
Nice tip for the good use of the butter wrapper. Also, thank you for sharing your cheddar cheese quick bread recipe.
The cheddar cheese bread is delicious Danwil and I don’t like to waste much, especially butter!
I love the idea of saving the Butter Wrappers because I bet we throw away a lot of Butter. I can’t wait to share the recipe for the Cheese Bread with Charlie to make in his Homeschool Cooking Class. Have a good Sunday and fun filled week. Can you believe we are almost at the end of another #UBC? Just two more and we will be at a new year again.
I hope Charlie makes the bread and likes it. It’s so easy and without yeast it’s quick! This month as gone back fast Glenda!
you always have the best tips! I will definitely use this.
Thanks Cheryl, I like coming up with off the wall ideas!
“Wow, talk about thinking outside of the (butter) box! I never would have thought to use butter wrappers for baking, but now I’m convinced it’s a game changer. Not only do you get that delicious buttery taste, but you’re also saving money by not wasting a single drop of butter. I’ll definitely be trying out your cheese bread recipe, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
But let’s be real, the best part about this whole thing is that it’s an excuse to eat more butter. I mean, who doesn’t love butter? It’s like the icing on the cake, except it’s on everything. I’ll be sure to stock up on butter and keep those wrappers handy for all my baking needs.
Thanks for sharing your tip, and for reminding us that even the smallest things can make a big difference in the kitchen!”
I always stock up on butter when it’s on sale Paul especially the way Lia goes through butter when baking for her fundraisers! Spread the wrapper butter on a pan, bread or even between ground beef patties before you freeze them. Remember everything is better with butter! Blog on!
Martha, how wonderful! My Mom used butter wrappers for buttering baking pans and frying pans. I picked that up from her. I may have to try your cheese bread recipe! But I’m out of baking powder, so I’d better put that on my list. 🙂
There are so many tips that are so helpful and saves time and money Kebba. Get some baking powder and let me know how you like the cheese bread!
I just wonder what you do with all those butter wrappers? I’ve never saved them, but have used them like you described. Very handy.
The bread looks like it came out really nicely!
Thanks for sharing this!
Laurie
The bread was delicious Laurie. I don’t stock up on the butter wrappers, just use them when I’m baking or cooking and using butter. But they are also great to put between ground beef patties going in the freezer.
That’s a smart idea. 🙂
I find a purpose for just about everything Amanda!
