Delicious Fruit Smoothies

Delicious Fruit Smoothies

Are you ready for some Delicious Fruit Smoothies and I mean DELICIOUS!!  I love smoothies and have made them many different ways from adding ice cream, smoothie powder, crushed ice or milk.  Since I’m really excited about my new healthy eating plan I changed some of the ingredients which in turn makes them much more simple to make.  My new fruit smoothies are just what they say, they are made with just FRUIT!

When strawberries are in season, we always freeze enough of the fresh berries to last through the next season.  We get some huge ones and are they juicy! I freeze them whole so they don’t get “mushy”.  Our freezer always has a large bag of fresh fruit, frozen without any other ingredients.  I haven’t tried freezing pineapple yet but when I find them at a good price I plan to freeze some since that is one of my favorite fruits.   The cool thing about frozen fruits, you can munch on them frozen, add them to water to flavor it, or use in recipes.

I purchased some bananas last week and that’s where my latest fruit smoothies began.  I grabbed 6 frozen strawberries, a banana cut in slices and 1/2 cup of canned crushed pineapple (in 100% fruit juice) and blended them in my Ninja.  After smooth, I added about 1/2 cup of crushed ice and blended again until smooth.  That’s it……fast, simple, delicious!  Look how thick it is, the straw stands up by itself!!

My next smoothie creation was just a cut up banana with about 2/3 cup of pineapple plus the 1/2 cup of crushed ice, blended together until smooth.  But I added a surprise fruit to this one….shredded Organic coconut! This was just as delicious but when using a whole banana,  I tasted the banana more than the pineapple.  I think next time I use this combination I will try it with half a banana.

I still had left over pineapple and I definitely wasn’t going to let it go to waste so you guessed it, my next fruit smoothie was pineapple.   But I used just pineapple with the Organic coconut and the crushed ice.  That was all the ingredients I added to my delicious fruit smoothies, no smoothie or protein powder, no ice cream or milk, simply  JUST FRUIT!!  I went fancy on this fruit smoothie, I garnished it with a fresh strawberry!

My delicious fruit smoothies are great for breakfast with a granola bar, a mid day pick-me-up snack or a refreshing evening drink.  Yes, I would say I’m enjoying my new healthy eating plan.

Another delicious fruit smoothie I like to make is with a mix of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.  If I have bananas, I add that too. This is a recipe I made last fall but I added smoothie powder also.  http://themarthareview.com/easy-to-make-fruit-smoothies/

I love smoothies myself. Strawberry and peach are my favorites.

Your smoothies look delicious. The most recent one that I made had blueberries, plain Greek yogurt, and almond milk.

That sounds yummy Alice. I use to always use milk, ice cream or yogurt but lately I’ve just been using fruit and ice chips. I’ll have to try yours! Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I think the original concept of a smoothie was vegan–I was introduced to them as “like ice cream but actually made from frozen bananas.” The dairy industry rushed in, “Oh, but they’re even better if you add a cow product,” which may or may not be true.

I had a smoothie at the cafe last week, hoping to write about how good it was. Too bad the strawberries weren’t from Post-Glyphosate California. I was sick. Can’t write much about that. Can’t wait to be able to enjoy strawberries (other than my own) again.

(Feral strawberries grow in the not-a-lawn, appearing just as the white violets subside…seedy but good, and glyphosate-free. But not enough to make a smoothie.)

Thanks for the lesson o Feral strawberries Priscilla, I never knew that! When I use to make smoothies, I always used milk or ice cream, since on my healthy eating, i find that just the fruit is delicious and filling. I guess mine would probably called a fruit slushy but either way, I’m loving the pure fruit drink. Thanks for stopping by, hope you get strawberries soon!
