Decorate a Basket for Hair Supplies – How Unique

For only being two years old, Lia already has a supply of hair products. Keeping the little bottles all in one place can be a challenge plus keeping track of her comb and tiny rubber bands. So the other day I started a search for some sort of a box to store her products in. Of course that led my creative brain to start thinking and decided to decorate a basket for her supplies – how unique. But I had to find the basket first.

Out to the garage I went and rummaged through my stored stash of boxes, baskets and bins. I found a small plastic crate that was perfect.

When I come up with an idea I have to complete it right away. I needed ribbon but I knew I didn’t have any in the width or color Lia needed. So I used the next best thing. I had some sparkly pink organza fabric that I cut in 4″ stripes about 10″ longer than the diameter of the crate.

Next I showed Lia how to weave it through the holes on the sides. She did great helping me weave and pull it tight then I tied the two ends together. The holes were only about 1″ high but by using 4″ wide fabric, it scrunched together giving it a unique puffy look.

There were four rows we wove the pink organza through and when it was all done, Lia was so happy. Pink is one of you favorite colors and it goes perfect with the white basket.

But we added one more step. Our neighbor gave Lia a box of plastic beaded necklaces so she took one of the pink ones and we threaded that through the top row over the organza.

When Lia completes a project she is so proud to show it off. She did a great job and from the look on her face she is more than satisfied with her decorated basket. What a unique project and a one of a kind basket for Lia’s hair supplies.

Lia’s hair basket was finished and now she has all her hair supplies in one place! I love thinking outside the box and coming up with unique ideas for products especially when I can find supplies for them around the house.

Now after bath time we just have to grab her basket of hair supplies and mommy can have everything in one place for styling Lia’s hair!

A complete hair styling for Lia it takes a bit of time but she’s good about sitting in her little chair while mommy combs through section by section. She was working on a new style with the ponytails while Lia was munching on her grapes. We saw her head bob and she was out. I held her head so it wouldn’t fall to the side and mommy was able to finish her style! Off to pop’s lap for an evening nap that lasted 13 hours!

Next time you need something, look around the house and you may find the supplies to make a unique hair supply basket like Lia and I made.

What a pretty basket. And one of a kind! It looks like Lia had a great time with her creative project. And how cool to make a storage space for hair care products into such a lovely work of art.

Thanks Alice, Lia has so many different bottles for her haircare I needed to come up with something to store them in other than a cardboard box. There plenty of room to add more things when she gets older.

Lia is so talented and smart and Charlie borrowed this idea from you to make a hair Bow Basket for my niece Payton for her Birthday which is a Homeschooling Craft for C. As well something Charlie can do with our nieces.

WOW that is great Glenda! I’d love to see a picture of Charlie’s basket and I’m sure it will be the best birthday present for your niece because it came from Charlie’s heart!
