Creating a Pillow by Lia
It’s Friday Story Time by Lia again! I’ve been “sew” busy the last few weeks with baking, working in my gardens and getting ready to take a trip to Indiana to see my mommy! But before we left I did some sewing and had so much fun with mama and me creating a pillow by Lia!
After I helped mama cut out the rose print and Minky fabrics, we pinned them together. Then I put the pillow under the sewing machine foot and stitched the pieces together.
The next step after we turned the fabric to the right side was to add stuffing to the pillow. It was fun getting little pieces of soft, fluffy stuffing and put inside the pillow!
This is how to stuff a pillow. Take little pieces of stuffing, make sure you get them into the corners and before you know it, the pillow is filled with soft stuffing!
This next step is to stitch the opening shut where I added the stuffing. Carefully I stitch it closed, removing the pins as I get to them and finish stitching until the little opening is all closed up so the stuffing stays inside. Mama’s right beside me guiding my hands just like she use to do with my mommy when she was little like me!
My pillow is all done! But wait, this is a special pillow we are sending to a friend. I have roses on the front and soft Minky fabric on the back! I picked out the fabrics all by myself and the roses reminded me of papa’s roses in the gardens! Of course since, I’m the official Mama’s Minky inspector I had to inspect the pillow since it’s going to be sent to a friend with a boo-boo on her knee. Mama and I thought it would be nice and soft under Tammy’s knee as she is working hard to get all better from a knee replacement.
Since the pillow is going to be a surprise I made a card to go with it. If you look close near the yellow paint, you can see where I signed my name, LIA!
When the package arrived at our friend’s house she was so surprised and thanked mama and me for her special gift. Tammy posted a picture on FB with the pillow and cards and an other one with the pillow under her knee.
As I was looking at the pictures she posted, I saw Tammy’s knee with the pillow under it and said, “Look, lady’s boo-boo.”
But a few days later, I was the one who got a surprise! Ms. Tammy knows I love gardening and she sent me a package, I wonder what’s in it. Oh, it’s books, I love reading!!
This is My Growing Garden book, it has little tabs to pull down an I have to find and count things! I like to count, I already can count to 20!
Look at This Little Light of Mine! It’s a book full of songs! I love to sing and mama said she will sing them with me!
I also found out that Tammy has a small farm and she invited us up to visit! I told her when her knee is all better, be ready for a knock on her door! Mama and I love baking, making crafts and sewing and surprising friends with them. But I was surprised this time! Thank you Ms. Tammy, I love my books!
I hope you enjoyed reading about me creating a pillow by Lia for Friday Story Time by Lia! I’ll be back next week with another exciting story!
Pillow is so pretty. I think C and I will make one in his sewing class. As for who the pillow was for. I thought of the neighbor who moved way.
Making a pillow would be a fun project for C’s sewing class Glenda. Our friend who received this pillow is a rep from one of our fabric companies and so sweet. Still can’t get up to visit our neighbor lady, the home is still in lockdown.
Martha, Lia, is going to end up running her own business by the time she is five. I love that rose pillow.
LOL we’re working on ideas for that Brenda! The rose fabric reminds me of papa’s roses.
Great job with the pillow.
Lia was so excited when she finished the pillow Amanda. I’m so glad she enjoys sewing, baking and gardening.
