COUPON ORGANIZING ADVICE

COUPON ORGANIZING ADVICE

Once again I am using the suggested topic for day 5 of the Ultimate Blog Challenge.  The topic is to write about something you have knowledge about and to share a tip to someone new to the subject.  I enjoy saving money with coupons so today I am sharing my Coupon Organizing Advice to you.

There are many ways to organize your coupons but I use a very simple and inexpensive way to keep them orderly.   Most everyone has a three-ring binder hanging around and that’s all you need for starters.  I had a box of plastic photo pocket pages that I wasn’t using for photos and they work great for my coupons.  Each page has two pockets to slide the coupons in.  You can also purchase coupon pages but I like to use what I already have and save even more money.

The first page I use for store brand coupons so I don’t miss any of the expiration dates on them.  The main grocery stores I shop at are BiLo and Kroger and I get a lot of freebie coupons from them and I don’t want them to expire before using them!

I sort out my coupons into categories and use a pocket for each category.  When I do this, I put the ones that are going to expire first on top of the pack.  Many of the coupons I use are from online coupon sites.  I am on a few earning sites where you can earn points for each coupon you print out PLUS receive an additional 10 cents for each coupon you use.   So if I use 100 coupons per month, that’s an additional $10.00 savings!

My binder also has a pocket on the inside of both the front and back cover so I use the front pocket for my shopping list plus I have a small notepad there also.  The back pocket is used to hold the store flyers.

This is a simple what to organize my coupons when shopping and they are all at my fingertips. I keep the binder with me when I go out, even if I don’t plan to go shopping because there are times when I need to run into the store for bread or milk and usually end up picking up other items. When I have my coupon binder, I’m set to use coupons!

I never was a big coupon clipper kind of person! I know I would probably save some money, but it seems like a LOT of time needed. Maybe I will try it out for a week!

Well Paul, it’s sorta like when you make your lists and spreadsheets. It does take time when someone first starts couponing but once you have the coupons organized in a binder, box or envelopes, it’s easy. I just add the new weekly coupons and remove any that may have expired. I’ve actually saved half of what I spend on weekly grocery shopping. Let me know if you try it out.

  2. You are so good with coupons!! So much respect for you. I, on the other hand, misplace the coupon they hand me at Kroger long before the next time I go back. *insert upside down emoji here*

Thanks Jeanine, coupons are the one thing I can keep organized! Before I carried my binder while shopping, I would stuff the coupons in my purse, sometimes never to be seen again. A good way to remedy the misplaced coupons is to keep an empty envelope in your purse and put all the coupons collected at the register in the envelope. I found I was losing money when I lost a coupon. It may only be ten or twenty cents but multiply that by ten coupons and you’ve lost a dollar! Try it, you may save enough for a cup of tea! LOL
