Cordierite Pizza Stone
Cordierite Pizza Stone
I have always made my pizza using a metal cookie sheet and I was pleasantly surprised on how great it was to use the Cordierite Pizza Stone!
The stone was packaged in a box that had a foam cutout to protect the stone and another piece that covered the cutout area. The sturdy stone is 14″ round by 3/4″ thick and although it is heavy, it cooks a great pizza. When I first received my Kit-Chef stone, I followed the directions of washing with water and letting it air dry overnight. Then I baked it and let it cool in the oven. The one thing you have to be careful with is do not soak in water as it may damage the pizza stone.
When I baked my pizza, it smelled so good and the few spots where the cheese dribbled on the stone were easily washed off with water. The crust was evenly browned and the bottom was not burnt. I haven’t used soap on my stone, it’s easy to clean with just water and store for my next pizza. The crust comes out perfect and I don’t get the metal taste like when I used a metal cookie sheet.
I also used the stone to bake dinner rolls. The stone heats evenly and the rolls didn’t stick to the stone, they came out perfectly browned and delicious. The other cool thing about the Kit-Chef Cordierite Pizza Stone, it’s perfect for both the oven and the outdoor grill! I haven’t tried it on my grill yet but that will be next. I am pleased with the quality, the construction, how well it’s packaged for safely arriving without damage and the ease of using this pizza stone. I received this product in exchange for my honest review and if you love pizza, this is a great addition to your kitchen.
I use to have one of these. I never used it a lot. Now I am baking more than I use to. I miss owning it.
nice! it looks pretty professional, and by the look of that pizza, it works pretty professionally too lol
The stone is very heavy and doesn’t burn the pizza or rolls Alex. Easy to clean too I’ll let you know when pizza is ready!
