Copycat Sonic Slushes
Since it’s the weekend and the weather is getting nice Lia decided to make copycat Sonic slushes. Slushes are easy to make and refreshing on a hot day. But a word of warning, they are overly sweet!
These are easy to make with only four ingredients, ice water, crushed ice, sugar and powdered drink mix. We divided the ingredients in fourths for our trial slushes.
We put the crushed ice and water in the blender cup then added strawberry Kool-Aid. Next Lia sprinkled the sugar over the Kool-Aid and blended everything together until the ice was crushed even more.
We had enough for three slushes and were they good but VERY strawberry-eee!! The recipe calls for 3 teaspoons but after cutting the ingredients down, I used just a little over 1/2 teaspoon. I think next time I will cut it down a bit more and if more is needed after the taste test we can add a few more sprinkles.
But both Lia and I were happy with our Copycat Sonic Slushes and they were quick and easy to make. If your wondering why Lia has her robe on, we just came in from swimming and she was cold but still wanted to make slushes!
Hope you enjoyed our slushes, I think we will try blueberry next time! Have a great weekend while sipping on a slushes!
Hi Martha and Lia,
I have never had a Sonic slushy, but I am willing to try your copycat slushy this weekend with my family. It’s going to be a HOT Memorial Day weekend here in the PNW, around the mid 80’s, perfect slushy weather! Strawberries are in season here, too, maybe I’ll throw in a couple fresh ones into the mix and see how that turns out! Sweet story! Thank you for sharing.
Sending lots of love and gratitude,
Jaime
Adding fresh strawberries would be the frosting on the cake Jaime! Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy the slushies!
There are so many easy things to do with children and help teach them so many things. Thank you for sharing.
Lia loves learning new things Deb, she has fun while learning.
Strawberry is my favorite. I have made before. You should have added some berries to the mix.
I didn’t think of that Brenda but next time!
Yes I should have Brenda!
Love you pics! Have you tired this with a sugar substitute? Too much sugar for me.
No I haven’t Debra, this was our first time. But I do use Monk Fruit so I’ll try that next time.
I love slashes and I want to go for a swim too!
Great idea about cute down the quantity.
Slushes and swimming make a great pair Amrita!
Oh, my! This is perfect timing. My kids love these slushes. We can make them over the holiday!
Sounds like a plan Dominique, hope they all enjoy them!
I think Lia has a future as an internet influencer. She does all these cool things, and you can be her manager!
Well that sounds like a cool plan Elisa! She already does product reviews so they are right up her alley!
Martha, wow! I never dreamed copycat slushes would be so easy! And maybe contain fewer artificial ingredients than the commercial ones. Thanks!
Those sound so good. I love slushes.
Good but very sweet Amanda.
