Color of the Day is Red
We are in another month already! In April I completed the Ultimate Blog Challenge, in May I completed the Song of the Day Challenge and now I am starting June with a new challenge, Color of the Day! The challenge is to follow the color prompt daily and find something with that color. This challenge is the brainchild of Glenda Cates from The MommiesReviews.com and her son C as one of his home school project. It’s almost like a scavenger hunt! Today’s Color of the Day is Red.
Red Rose
The first red that popped in my head is a beautiful red rose from our garden. My hubby talks to his roses everyday and the must listen because they are gorgeous. He brings me a rose every morning has has it waiting on the table when I come downstairs.
A few days after the buds appear the most beautiful roses bloom. This is the only rose bush we have that looks like a long stem rose from a florist plus it smells like raspberries!
I put the fresh picked roses in a vase to bring a little of the outdoor garden indoors. I love the dew drops that are still on the petals.
Red painted wall
January 2019 after living in our home since 1999 with terracotta and gold walls we decided the rooms needed a change of color. We painted the walls in the office, eating area and TV room mostly grey but accented one wall in the TV room a faux red. Since the office already had a red wall it looked great.
The red wall is opposite the kitchen with red appliances so it’s perfect. To finish off the room, we fabricated grey drapes on the wall opposite the grey painted wall and I made a simple box pleat valance of red with grey pleats. I love the change of colors and the red, black and grey area rug pulled the room all together.
Vehicles
While I’m on the red subject, even our vehicles are red! We had our 2013 Dodge Ram since January 2013 and we bought our 2017 Buick Regal for our 50th wedding anniversary in July 2017.
Our Dodge Ram was an awesome vehicle but closing in on 7 years old and 90,000 miles it was time to look for a new one. We couldn’t find a Dodge with the packages we wanted so we checked out Chevy. As soon as we sat in this 2020 Chevy 4×4 Crew Cab we were sold. The main thing was the leather seats, something we couldn’t find in the Dodge. We love this truck, there is so much more leg room for backseat passengers in the crew cab compared to the extended cab Dodge.
Oh and did you notice the red shutters? You might say we like red! So day one of the challenge Color of the Day is Red is completed, only 29 more days until the July Ultimate Blog Challenge!
Those roses are gorgeous! I bet they smell wonderful too. By chance, do you put banana peels on the soil underneath them? My granny used to do that and the scent from the flowers was amazing. She even put used coffee grinds out there as well. LOL I didn’t understand all of that back in the day, but I do now.
Red cars – -I never wanted a red car here in the DFW area as they get profiled all the time. I wonder if that is just a thing or if it really does happen. Be my luck, I’d get pegged every time. LOL
I am looking forward to seeing all of your choices for this new color challenge hosted by The Mommie’s Review.
Have a great day!
Thanks Nancy, no we don’t use banana peels, Rich just talks to them and they listen! I have heard of coffee grounds and all egg shells to keep the bugs away. We love our red vehicles, it’s not fire engine red, those are the ones that the police seem to follow!
Martha, this one would be fun to do with Lia.
Yes, she is helping me with ideas along with her mommy! She has some interesting things of the color of the day to use.
I have a pink amost red memory wall in.my living room which is for my daughter Suzzie. C loves red and so does both of his grandmothers. Thank you for joining us in C’s challenge.
This is starting out fun Glenda! Lia and her mommy are coming up with some great ideas!
I just got my first red car- and that means I have to slow down dramatically, since it is so visible. No need to accumulate points.
Keep the pedal off the metal Roy and you’ll be fine!
When I was little red was my favorite color. My bunk bed and my dresser was red.
Red is a happy color, bright and cheerful! I can picture you bed and dresser Amanda!
