Can’t Share the Recipe

I made a delicious meatloaf the other day but I can’t share the recipe. I’d love to share it but I never measure the ingredients! But I can tell you it has 2 eggs! I start with about half an onion, dice it then add the eggs and onion to about 2 1/2 pounds of ground beef. I shake some Italian bread crumbs in the mix and then a few sprinkles of seasoning mix. After everything is all mixed together I give a healthy squeeze of ketchup to the meat and mix that in.

Next I make a big ball of the meat, put in a baking dish and form it into an oval shape. I also add a few ketchup hearts to the top before baking.

Bake at 325 degrees and I also bake some potatoes at the same time. It took a little over an hour to turn this into a delicious dinner with enough left overs for a few meatloaf sandwiches! I like this kind of meal because it’s quick, easy and delicious!

This is how I cook too! A little of this, some of that, maybe some more of the first.

The dish sounds like comfort food.I cook by instinct too.

This is the way I cook – I may look at a recipe for oven temperature and time to cook, but for the most part, I am tossing in the goods and mixing it up. I don’t usually measure.

For me it is more fun, and it fits the mood I am in when I am cooking.

well Martha, I’m not one to eat meatloaf. Hubs likes it but doesn’t get it often. Now don’t get me wrong, I have made it before, I just don’t care for it…lol

    Yours looks delicious!!!

My husband, the family cook, can’t share recipes, either. I think a lot of good cooks can’t, because you all cook by feel. So… you are a good cook!

  6. I love your easy meatloaf “not so recipe”! I make my similar, but I add a packet of the Onion Soup Mix to mine and a half-cup of petite diced tomatoes and bell pepper. Delish!

Oh Aletha, diced tomatoes and peppers sound delicious! I have added onion soup mix but if I have onions, I use them instead. I’ll have to try your ideas, thanks.

Most of my recipes are not recipes, but concoctions I put together with whatever I have. Most of the time they come out pretty tasty.

Aren’t the the fun ones Karen! My granddaughter come up with a recipe for soup, just throw things in the pot and gosh does it smell good while cooking. All I remember her putting in it is a can of corn, the rest was just leftovers!

Martha – you are like most great cooks: a little bit of this and a little bit of that. You could probably make your delicious sounding meatloaf in your sleep! I’ll have to NOT try YOUR recipe and make one of my own! Great title! Thanks for NOT sharing!

I wish I could share my recipes but most times I’m not thinking of “oh I’ll share this recipe in my blog”. LOL But sometimes after I make something I will go back and try to get measurements to share Anne. Hope your’s turns out great!
