Busy with Projects

WOW it’s Friday Story Time by Lia already! I had a few ideas to write about but since I’ve been busy with projects, I decided to share a few of my latest ones with you.

Picture Pillow

The first is a pillow I made for mommy for Easter. I’ve made pillows before but this one was extra special. Ma helped me find a perfect picture of mommy and me and she printed it out on special fabric for printers. Mommy loves purple so I looked through our box of Minky scraps and found a beautiful deep purple Minky fabric. I banded the picture with butterfly fabric and stitched the purple Minky fabric on the back. I sewed around the edges being very careful to keep my fingers out of the way of the needle.

When I sew, the outside of the pillow fabric is inside so I have to turn it around after the sewing is done. The fun part is when I stuff the pillow with white fluffy pillow stuffing, it’s so soft!

Since I’m Mama’s Minkys inspector I had to inspect the pillow I made for softness. Yup, mommy will love how soft it is!

Mommy’s pillow is all done and waiting for me to give it to her for Easter!

Decorating a plate

I also did a project for Mother’s Day. Ma and I went to Dollar Tree and we found a big silver plate and some adhesive stickers.

Ma cut a heart shape from paper and I put the little pink stickers around the edge of the heart pattern. Then I took the little purple glittery stickers and made a smaller heart inside the big one.

I took the purple stickers and put them all around the edge of the plate and it looked so pretty when I finished it! Look how pretty mommy’s Mother’s Day plate turned out!!

Shell Necklace

It’s also FLASHBACK FRIDAY and I’m sharing a blog I wrote when I made a shell necklace for mommy. Now that was real fun, I even collected the shells on our walk at the beach with pop and ma! http://themarthareview.com/i-made-a-shell-necklace/

I like to keep busy with projects and crafts with Ma. I never know what our next surprise project will be! Hope you enjoyed seeing how I made the pillow and decorative plate, they were fun to make and mommy was so surprised. Another Friday Story Time by Lia is in the works. See you next week!

Lia says, “Thanks you Dr. Renee! I love doing projects and sewing is one of my favorite things to do with ma. I had to test it to make sure mommy would like it! I’ll be making more things soon!”

These pillow, plate, and shell art projects are so cool and look like a lot of fun to make. It makes me ask myself, why purchase from a store, when you can make such beauty yourself. Thanks for sharing!

    • Martha says:

I would always enjoy a handmade project instead of a store bought one Marc. We also creative the majority of gifts we give. A homemade gift comes for the heart not the pocketbook. Thanks for visiting!!

  3. Amrita says:

Lia does more in a day than most people do in months.Great pillow Lia

    • Martha says:

She is not one to sit around Amrita. I can’t even sneak in the kitchen to start a meal without her running in and saying she wants to help. I love how she is so willing, hope it stays that way when she gets older!

  4. Did she make that pillow? I am sure her momma loved it! I enjoy reading about her projects!

    • Martha says:

Yes Dominique, it was a joint project. She has made a few pillows and it so careful about cutting with scissors and sewing on the machine. I just saw a project for a pocket prayer quilt, it’s about 4″ square and I think that would be an exciting project and she could donate them to the hospital or nursing home. Lia loves to keep busy!

  5. Amanda Gene says:

Lia, It’s always good to stay busy. I love your butterfly top. Do you like stickers?

    • Martha says:

Hi Amanda, I love staying busy and thank you for comment on my top. Yes, I love stickers too! I have glittery butterfly stickers one wall in my bedroom!
