BEST DESSERT EVER EATEN
BEST DESSERT EVER EATEN
The Ultimate Blog Challenge is moving right along and for day 11, the suggested topic is to share a photo of the best dessert ever eaten. Well for me that was a no brainer, I has to be the delicious chocolate mayonnaise cake my grandmother would make when I was a young girl. The cake was so moist and delicious and with the fluffy white frosting, topped with coconut is something I will also remember.
If you would like to try it, this is a blog I posted with the recipe for the cake and frosting. http://themarthareview.com/chocolate-mayonnaise-cake/
Let me know what you think if you bake it up!!
I have had the mayonnaise cake..very good, my grandma made it like her mother made…both my grandmas were awesome cooks…I perfected grandma’s pumpkin pies, lazy daze cake which I have morphed into another woman’s grandma’s bee sting cake,! My other grandma made a fabulous chess pie, Christmas cookies and was known for her mile high biscuits…which she gave me the secrets to all…then other great cooks gave me recipes for sour cream raisin meringue pie, etc….one thing I have not perfected is what my one grandma would make for my birthday…from scratch angel food cake with strawberries…one of the perks being an April baby, strawberries…
I will have to make your grandma’s mayonnaise cake Martha..,will be great for my birthday!
WOW, sounds like you have some great recipes handed down to you. The angel food cake with strawberries is making me drool! Thanks for visiting Katherine and let me know if you make the mayonnaise cake!
My teeth hurt just from reading the recipe!!!!
Glad you liked it.
LOL Roy, it’s so delicious and yes the frosting is quite sweet!
I am hesitant when I saw Chocolate MAYONAISE??? And then coconut…
While you sound so happy about this recipe, I may have to pass on trying it. But, there is a chance that I will make it for my family! If I do, I will let you know!
Thanks, Martha!
Well the mayonnaise has milk and eggs Paul, that way my grandmother told my mother it was okay for me to eat it for breakfast before I left for school way back when! The coconut is just the topping on the cake…….literally! If you family loves moist, chocolate cake, they should love this!
I remember the great things my grandmother cooked, too!! I loved her sweet tea, her collard greens (grown in her back yard) and her pound cake. I have to admit that was part of the reason I looked forward to visiting her! 🙂
Oh, pound cake, one of my favorites from my grandmother also but I don’t have her recipe. I loved it when she covered it with wild strawberries I would pick from the field next to our house when I was a wee little girl. Thanks for the memories Jeanine!
