BEEF LIVER IS A RICH SOURCE OF PROTEIN, VITAMINS & MINERALS

There are only about 54 calories in a 1 ounce serving of beef liver so it’s great for those watching calories.  Besides being a delicious and economical meal, beef liver is a rich source of protein, vitamins & minerals.

Beef liver provides one of the richest sources of amino acid for cell growth.  It also has a high amount of Vitamin B12 which helps manage nervous system disorders.   Liver is rich in iron which helps with the red blood cells.

One slice of liver has the recommended daily amounts of minerals, vitamin B12 and iron.  It’s the number one choice for people suffering anemia due to iron deficiency.

Vitamin A is important for a strong immune system against diseases and beef liver is also a good source for Vitamin A.

One of the top foods that provides copper is beef liver. Copper is a mineral that is important for the antioxidants in your body.  It constantly fights free radicals that can cause diseases.

I have eaten beef liver, chicken liver, and deer liver but beef liver is my favorite.  I have prepared it a few different ways. The one is like my grandmother use to make.  She would fry up bacon, drain most of the grease then add the pieces of liver, that were dipped in flour, to the pan with the bacon grease.  It was so delicious with the flour coating.  The other way I make it is to fry up onions and/or bacon then just add the liver slices to the pan.

I add cut up pieces of onions to the pan and after they are browned I push them to the side and add the liver. Liver has to be cooked fairly quickly or it will get tough and then it tastes like show leather!  I put it the pan with the onions, brown on side for a few minutes, flip it over and continue cooking and browning that side for another few minutes.  For this meal I only topped with onions but I also used bacon at times.
It’s a quick meal to prepare and full of protein, vitamins and minerals.  I love a meal of liver!

I remember my mom making this when I was younger. I don’t recall trying it. I remember the horrible smell when cooking. When I was little I refused to eat meat. I couldn’t tell you if I liked it or not.

Can’t beat a recipe that is both healthy and economical! I’ve never actually cooked liver. Maybe I’ll have to give it a try!

Many people don’t like liver Tricia, but I’ve been eating it since my grandmother made it when I was very young. If you do try it, I’d love to know your thoughts. Make sure you cook it quick so it doesn’t get dried out. A few minutes on each side is all I do and then smother with the onions and or bacon. Such a healthy and feeling meal that is so economical!

To be honest I am not too keen on liver, however your pictures and instructions on how to cook it look enticing. I will definitely give this a go. I have become more health conscious of late and I understand that vitamin A is essential to maintaining a healthy immune system. Thanks for sharing this, really helpful 🙂

I love beef but I have never heard or eaten beef liver. I never liked chicken liver so I don’t think this would be an exception either. That is one source of protein I can absolutely do without! lol

Liver seems to be either love it or hate it meal. If not cooked correctly, it tastes like show leather. Some that had it in their early years may have not had it prepared correctly. But we can’t all like the same thing so that’s okay for those that don’t like it. Thanks for stopping by Shevy.
