Banana Split for Breakfast

I found the most DELICIOUS recipe for a banana split for breakfast! I changed the recipe and made my own version and all I can say is it not only tasted good, but it’s healthy and oh so very colorful!

Now this isn’t your ordinary banana split with ice cream, it’s made with yogurt and fresh fruit!

First slice the banana in half lengthwise , add about half of cup of yogurt and top with fresh blackberries, blueberries and cut up strawberries.

Next I sprinkled the fruit with sliced almonds then added french vanilla flavored granola and drizzled my creation with honey. I love fresh fruit and this is just another way to be creative in preparing breakfast meals or even an afternoon snack!

My great granddaughter spent the night and she was eating her breakfast but as soon as she eyed mine, Lia’s big brown eyes told me she wanted to try some. Lia’s up to trying everything and she loved the banana split for breakfast. This can be made so many different ways, I’m thinking it would be great to make it with the banana, mandarin oranges and pineapple, topped with nuts and coconut with the yogurt. Or even banana with apple slices, raisins and top with cinnamon! You can use your imagination and add what ever fruit you like.

Give it a try, what fruit would you add to your banana split for breakfast?

  1. I don’t really see the difference between quality ice cream and yoghurt as your choice of dairy. (Especially if folks are going to add sugar to the concoction.) But, it does look mighty tempting!

Well if it wasn’t for breakfast, I would have ice cream but I figured yogurt seemed a bit more fitting to start my day. It was delicious Roy!

  2. A banana split for breakfast sounds wonderful! I’d include mostly berries with my banana, I think – just like yours. 🙂 I might leave off the granola, though and rather have some ground almonds or hazelnuts. Thanks for a yummy idea, Martha!

That looks good, and interesting, too!

In the Philippines, breakfast is made of heavy sets of viand, side dishes, condiments, and rice. I know, I know, it does not sound healthy but they are truly delicious, too.

I love bananas and will definitely try this recipe but I think it will be under ‘dessert’ list. 😀 😀 😀

Thank you for sharing the mouth-watering banana split!

This is my latest delicious breakfast, lunch or snack all in one Vidya! Thanks for visiting, the dish is actually one of four that all fit together to make it look like one. It’s perfect for olives, pickles, etc.

  8. I think strawberries and slivered almonds would be hard to beat.

I’ve been hooked on slivered almonds lately Priscilla! I started adding them to my trail mix recipe but now I’ve been cooking and using them with fruit too!
