BABY SHOWER DAY
LIA’s BABY SHOWER DAY
Four weeks and counting until hubby and I will have our 5th GREAT grand baby! What’s so special about this is, our 5th grandchild is having our 5th GREAT grandchild. Daddy Stevie and Mommy Alexandra recently moved into a new place and are scurrying around to get Lia Faith’s room all set up and organized for her début. Alex had a bit of a setback a few weeks ago and ended up in the hospital for three days with a severe kidney infection. She was 32 weeks pregnant and little Lia wasn’t happy with the pain and contractions started. The hospital kept close watch on both Alex and Lia, doing non-stress tests on baby. Her heart rate was great and she was very active which was a good thing. When she was released, Alex was still in a lot of pain and walking was next to impossible. Ten days passed and the following Saturday was the first day Alex was actually able to move without being in severe pain. It was also baby shower day, hosted by Stevie’s mom. This was the first time hubby and I met Stevie’s family and it’s so great walking into a group of people who you don’t know and be so welcomed into their family.
The shower started out with some cool games hosted by Stevie’s cousin. There was a three-way tie on one of the name games and Stephanie said the tie breaker would be a dance-off. The other two didn’t like that idea so she then come up with a number game I went into action. If you haven’t seen my blog and video from this when I posted it a few days ago, you have to watch it now. It’s hilarious how “quiet and refined” me turned into a “loud mouth: around people I had just met! LOL http://themarthareview.com/dance-off/
After the games it was time to eat and oh my, the food that Thelma had prepared! There was a variety of salads, a delicious mac and cheese with chicken casserole plus fried chicken, a few different kinds meatballs and a huge platter of subs. Then in another room, she had the fixings for salad, and DELICIOUS desserts! There was even a chocolate fountain to cover the fresh strawberries and marshmallows!
After everyone was stuffed from all the delicious food, it was time for Alex and Stevie to open the gifts but once again jumped into action with an impromptu speech. Rich and I have 7 grandchildren and Lia Faith will be our 5th GREAT grand baby so since this is the 1st grandchild for Stevie’s parents, I wanted to give her a little advice. We were talking a few days before the shower and she mentioned she didn’t know what her and her hubby wanted their grandchild to call them. I told her it sometimes is not what the grandparents want to be called but what the grandchild decides they want to call the grandparents! When Alex was a baby, she started calling us Papa and Mama, then has she got older, it was changed to Pop and Ma, and that’s what we are still called today by her. The other advice I gave her was when adult children start purging things, sometimes they throw things away that they don’t want. However grandparents have a special place in their hearts to hang on to sentimental items.
After a few hugs (and happy tears) it was time for the guests of honor to open their gifts.
We all hugged and said our good-byes to the family and drove back to Stevie and Alex’s house to unload everything. They will be busy setting up Lia Faith’s room for her arrival in a few weeks.
I’m so excited for the day we get to met our 5th GREAT grandbaby!! Alex and Stevie are going to be such loving, caring and nurturing parents.

Looks like they had a wonderful shower and got everything they will need for the baby. As for the Ribbon you kept, I still have Charlies his grandmother bought him and I hope one day he can share it with his children.
OMG Glenda, the shower was awesome and Stevie’s mom went way over and above to plan such a wonderful day. This baby will never want for anything! I’m so glad I’m not the only sentimental one and that you saved Charlie’s ribbon. You can present it to him and his love when they have their first child, way down the road! LOL
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love, love, love back atcha Alexandra, Stevie and of course Lia Faith! Hurry up 4 weeks! <3
My first granddaughter was the focus of last Saturday’s baby book shower. I cannot comment on what transpired since my son-in-law and I were sent to his school to look after the audio equipment for their summer fair.
I was told what goes on in the shower stays in the shower. ( I though it got washed down the drain. )
How exciting, your first granddaughter Doug! When is the big arrival day? Alexandra is due on August 17, I can’t wait to see Lia Faith!
A truck filled for the baby 🙂
The truck was filled to capacity Andria and Lia will be all set! I’m so excited for her arrival in a few weeks! Thanks for visiting.
