Art In The Streets Photography Challenge – Week 7
Art In The Streets Photography Challenge – Week 7
February 24 – March 1
It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for the Art In The Streets Photography Challenge. This is my 7th week I’ve been sharing interesting places and I not only enjoy posting my photos but also seeing the many wonderful photos from other bloggers.
Come travel through the narrow, winding roads of The Dragon in Deals Gap! The scenery is beautiful, the hairpin turns are awesome and the views are breathtaking. The Dragon starts in Bryson City, North Carolina and the mountain pass goes through Tennessee where it borders the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The Dragon is famous for it’s 318 curves in 11 mile trip. Some of the sharp curves have names and with all the curves, the road is said to resemble a dragon’s tail, hence the name, “The Dragon”.
Deals Gap is a popular destination for motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts, as it is located along a stretch of two-lane road known since 1981 as “The Dragon”. My hubby and I took our sports car on the scenic drive.
This is the Fontana Dam just before entering Deals Gap. Beautiful sight! The 11-mile stretch of the Dragon in Tennessee has 318 curves. There is no development along the entire 11 mile stretch, it’s just a beautiful scenic drive with overlooks and pull-off along the route.
This is a stone that was along side one of the pull offs we stopped it. I named it “The Sleeping Lady”. Can you see her head (kind of large and pointed)?
So if you are traveling in western North Carolina area and looking for an exciting drive, hop on “The Dragon” for breathtaking views.
