Art in the Streets Photo Challenge

Art in the Streets Photo Challenge

January 13 – 19

The world is full of beautiful things, many of which we walk past everyday with barely a glance. Public works of art are often used to brighten our towns and cities. They can be used to commemorate the achievements of citizens, mark special occasions or just be pleasing to the eye. Use this photo challenge to share photos of art works  each week in the areas you visit. The definition of art is broad! It could be anything from fountains, statues, sculptures to street art, light fittings, stained glass windows or artistic floral displays in public gardens or even unique buildings. Anything big or small, old or new that catches your eye is good.

I just found out of the Art in the Streets Photo Challenge from Lee-Ann Turley, a follow blogger.  Whether you are in a big city, small town or way out in the country, there are so many beautiful sites to photograph.   For my first challenge I decided to show you some of the beautiful sites in Cherokee, a small town in western North Carolina.

On the winding road through the Great Smoky National Forest from Cherokee North Caroline to Gatlinburg Tennessee is the old Oconaluftee Indian Village that takes you back in time.   It was very interesting to learn how things were back in the days.   I love this old cabin and everything inside is just as it was back in the days when people lived in it.  Just beyond the village we noticed vehicles parked all along the side of the road and there was a field of elk grazing and not bothered at all by the camera buffs.

As we traveled through the national forest, the scenery was magnificent.   There were so many beautiful trees lining the road and peaceful streams.   The pull off just before Gatlinburg was bursting with all kinds of colorful flowers.   This is such a peaceful drive and it takes you back in time.
