Another Year Older
Another Year Older
Saturday, March 12th was my birthday and I became another year older. For me, age is just a number, I always tell people I grow old but I don’t grew up! The one thing that I have to remember is when I’m doing my online surveys, I need to put 67 years old instead of 66 but I think I can handle that. I had such a wonderful birthday from receiving close to 300 birthday wishes from my wonderful friends on my social sites to a super fantastic day with my hubby.
The day started with my free Grand Slam breakfast at Denny’s. I had eggs, red skin potatoes, pancakes and bacon with a sweet tea. Needless to say, I was stuffed after I ate all that! When we got home hubby asked what I wanted to do so I told him since it was a nice day, I wanted to clean out the shed since I needed to burn off my breakfast. He wasn’t too happy with that, saying I should do something special. I got my wish and we took everything out of our 20 year old 8′ x 10′ shed included taking out all the warped shelves and putting up new ones. We tossed so much stuff that was just taking up space and now it looks so nice and orderly.
Last week we had a double door installed since the original single door fell off the hinges, so now we have a new door and a clean and tidy shed!
When we went back in the house, hubby surprised me with a delicious four layer chocolate cake. It was so good and adding a glass of cold milk just hit the spot after cleaning out the shed.
I get a variety of gift cards from lots of restaurants on my birthday so the next dilemma was to decide where to go for dinner. As I was going through my gift cards, our neighbor stopped over with some pineapple upside down cake with blueberries and cherries in it! My sweet hubby mows her lawn while he does ours and she’s always bringing over homemade goodies.
As if I hadn’t already eaten too much, we then got ready to go out for my free birthday dinner! We went to Damon’s Oceanfront Restaurant and the meal and view were wonderful. The meals come with a choice of soup or salad so I had the French Onion soup while hubby had a garden salad. Both were so good and a meal in itself. I ordered prime rib with a medley of squash, carrots and onions. Hubby is a rib man so he ordered the spare ribs that were so tender they fell off the bone. His meal came with a huge baked potato. The portions were huge and needless to say, neither of us could finish so we brought enough home for Sunday dinner!
Since we live in a tourist town, people think everyone is a tourist. The restaurant had a photographer going around taking pictures of the customers so we decided to play tourist for the evening and have our picture taken.
It was such a relaxing evening, eating dinner, watching the ocean waves and just being together as I became another year older. Now I have to organize the rest of my gift cards and use them up before the end of the month. That won’t be hard for me to do!
I am so glad that you had a wonderful birthday. I wish you many, many more to come.
Thanks Andria, it definitely was a memory maker. But then when hubby and I are together, it always is. Thanks for stopping by!
Happy birthday!! You look like you had a meal fit for a King. Lol. Love seeing your lovely photos. That cake looks to die for. You look great posing as a terrorist.
It was a great day for sure! The meal was superb and being a “tourist” (not a terrorist, LOL) was fun! Thanks for stopping by my party Sandy!
It is so nice that the two of you enjoy each other while you can.
With our work schedule, we don’t get a chance to have a “free” day often. My birthday was a great day. Thanks for stopping by Irene.
