And It’s a Wrap

I must say this month has been more than just an Ultimate Blog Challenge, it’s been a challenge to just get through each day. It’s been a month when I sit and stare and don’t know what to do next. It’s been a month of watching Snowball being lost without being able to snuggle in the chair with Pop. It’s been a month of wondering why and was there something I could have done.

I would not have been able to get through this month without my daughter and her husband, two of my granddaughters and Lia and two of my grandsons. They were my rocks that held me together. But they were grieving also and I didn’t realize how much until I read a post that Alex wrote on Pop’s Facebook page asking why and what was she supposed to do now. But we all made it this far and I’m letting God lead the way. My daughter will be coming back down from Virginia the first week of June and I can’t wait to see her again.

When our roses were in bloom, every morning Rich would have one on my computer when I came downstairs, some would even have a little note with the rose. Now my grandson from Indiana sends me a text message everyday with a rose emoji. That makes my heart melt to how caring Zac is.

The 59 years of wonderful memories that Rich and I had will live forever in my heart until we meet again.

During the April UBC I managed to post every day and read and commented on as many other posts that I could. The one thing I didn’t do was reply to the almost 300 comments that my friends left me. There just wasn’t enough time in the day even though it seems like I did nothing. But my challenge for May will be to set a schedule of replying to ten comments each day and I will have them all read and replied by the end of the month. I thank you all for comments, prayers and messages.

I didn’t even post my beginning challenge poem but here is my ending one. Congratulations to all those who participated in this wonderful challenge and even if you missed a few days, you are still winners. Thanks to Paul for putting another great Ultimate Blog Challenge together.

Lia had fun sharing her Friday Story Time by Lia blogs and she will have graduated Kindergarten when we come back for the next challenge so I’m sure she will have lots to write about. Lia and I are looking forward to coming back for the July challenge which will be my 35th consecutive Ultimate Blog Challenge, Until then, BLOG ON!

Hi Martha, I really enjoyed reading your poem about the wrap up of the UBC. Many congratulations on having done so many consecutively – you are a pro, that’s for sure!
My sincerest condolences for your loss. So heartwarming to hear that you were together for so many decades – that is so rare and precious. Your photos from when you were younger, compared to your recent years – was lovely to see. It is inspirational how you were together for such a very long time, a very successful relationship. May you take the time needed to rest and mourn. Thinking of you and sending big hugs. Alice

Thank you Alice, Rich and I always said we would be together forever. We still are but he’s watching and guiding me from above.

  2. Congrats on completing the Challenge! This one was a lot fun.

Martha you are an inspiration and not just in blogging. I don’t know how you find the strength to do all that you do.My prayers and love with you always.I know Rich held your hand throughout the UBC and he is always there looking over you.

I figured I could quit but I know Rich wouldn’t want that Amrita. He was the one that every morning would ask if I have a topic for my blog. He was my biggest cheerleader and supporter and I know he still is.

  4. Martha, it’s really beautiful how your family has come together and supported one another after losing Rich, thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your pain with us. He lives on in the love you hold for him and each other. May you continue to find comfort among the hurt.

Congratulations on finishing the UBC, I’ll see you in July. (oh, and great title on this blog! 😉)

  8. Martha, you are awesome! I love reading your posts. As someone who has also lost her husband, I feel your situation acutely, deeply. How great that you have so much family support. And I am so proud of you for pulling up the strength from within to complete this Challenge. I knew you would be happier if you did. Love and hugs–

Thanks Kebba, I think only those how have lost a husband can truly understand. I’ve lost parents, grandparents and many other family members but none have affected me like losing the love of my life for 59 years. But you and I are both strong and we will get through it one day at a time. Love and hugs back to you.

  10. You did it, Martha!! I’m amazed but happy that you made it to the end. I’m so glad that you have had the support you have. I hope that will continue. That picture with you and Rich gazing at each other is SO beautiful! Love you, Martha.
