All Decked Out for Christmas Baking
Look at our Christmas aprons from Dapper and Doll, I am so excited to be all decked out for Christmas baking with Alexandra and Lia!
Before we start baking I want to tell you a little about Dapper and Doll. First it’s a family owned and operated business with mom, Kristen and her son, Timmy. Their mission is to make items that bring joy to others and their aprons sure do that! Alexandra, Lia and I are wearing their Christmas aprons while baking cookies! It’s great to bake as a family and make memories. But Dapper and Doll also creates products that improve creativity and build real-life skills. Baking can teach your child so much more than just making yummy treats, it teaches neatness by wearing an apron to keep your clothes clean and good hygiene by washing your hands before starting a baking project. Baking also helps them to follow instructions by doing the steps in order. Everyone needs patience when the cookies are baking and the final reward is testing the finished product! But wait, we aren’t finished learning yet, we have to clean up the bowls and utensils we used while baking. This is a blog I wrote sharing some life-skills that Lia learned while baking. http://themarthareview.com/lessons-learned-when-baking/
These adorable aprons come in three sizes, Toddler (2-3), Child (4-10) and Adult. They are 100% polyester and wash wonderful! I love the little Christmas tree pattern in reds, gray and green on the white background. All the seams are doubled and top stitched so no raw edges show and they even have an adjustable strap around the neck and a tie around the waist. With the large front pockets they are perfect for holding a spatula or to hide a cookie in after done baking!
There’s nothing better when baking to include the family! The only drawback to that is Lia always grabs the beater to get the first lick!
Our baking project for the day was chocolate chip cookies! What better cookie to start our Christmas baking.
What a great baking day with Lia and her mommy and of course the cookies were delicious! Just look at Lia’s funny faces!!
Peanut Butter & oatmeal cookies
Lia and I also made peanut butter and oatmeal cookies the other day. She decided to add mini M&M’s to the batter and every time she scooped the cookie dough she picked out the M&M’s and ate them!
For this baking project I took a video of Lia making the cookies. It’s Lia’s first baking video and I think it turned out well considering she was a bit under the weather. Check out her adorable Dapper and Doll apron, it goes great with her red and gray jammies!
Of course while I was getting the video set up, Lia already had the eggs cracked and poured them in the mixing bowl!
Look at Lia trying out the cookie dough! The finished product was delicious and it was our own recipe!
Recipe for Peanut Butter with Oatmeal Cookies
1 cup sugar (we use Monk Fruit natural sweetner)
2 eggs
1 cup peanut butter (we used crunchy style)
2/3 cup of quick oats
1/3 cup of mini M&M’s
Beat sugar and eggs together until well blended. Add the peanut butter and beat until all mixed together then add oats and mix well. Add the M&M’s and carefully blend them in the batter. Drop spoon sized batter on greased cookie sheet or baking mat. Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees or until not gooey looking. They will be soft after removing from oven, cool on baking mat before moving them to the cooling rack to prevent them from breaking.
The recipe made about 30 cookies but would have been more if Lia and I didn’t eat the broken ones!
The baking was done but Lia wasn’t. She loves cleaning up and doing the dishes! She is such a great little helper!

Looks like you guys had fun. 🙂
It was fun baking with Alex and Lia, Amanda! Lots more will be in the making!
I think she is a great baker/cook. I was taught at a young age to clean as I go so when I sit down with the family to enjoy a meal I don’t leave a dirty kitchen to be cleaned later. I think she has the idea already. Good teacher = Good Student
Thanks Chef William. I’m amazed at times at all that Lia enjoys doing. Cleaning up after baking is great for her to learn.
This is so sweet. My mother, son and I all had matching handover aprons. We wore when we bake together. I love the video.
Lia loves aprons and now we all have matching ones Brenda. Love the idea!
Enjoyed your baking session with Lia. I promised Toni that we could have a few baking sessions in December. I get to lick the beater.
