All Awesome Value
Today is Day 31 of the Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge but there are only 30 days in August so this is a bonus blog! The topic is All Awesome Value and me being the penny pincher I am have some awesome tips for awesome value!
I went shopping a few months ago for some denim shorts. All the ones I tried on were straight wide legs which I don’t like. Any of the fitted denim shorts were way more than I wanted to pay. The prices went from $20.00 to $45.00 and more!! Needless to say I didn’t make a purchase that day.
When I got home I looked at my favorite pair with some the denim so thin in the back it was splitting along the pockets. OH NO, THIS ARE MY FAVORITE JEAN SHORTS!!!! But I can figure something out! I went through my pile of old jeans to see which pair I could cut apart to make patches. Now most of you know I SAVE EVERYTHING and some in the pile of old jeans were back to the bell bottom days! I took the widest pair and cut the bottom to use to patch the butt of my favorite jean shorts.
As I was looking at these jeans, I remember how I loved them so I had a brainstorm of an idea! Why not cut them off at the knees and make a new pair of jean shorts from my old pair of jeans!
My new old jean shorts are just what I was looking for and I couldn’t beat the price! They even have the vintage look like the high priced new ones! I was able to mend my old pair and make a new pair out of the same pair of jeans that were in a pile in my closet!
But wait, it’s not over with the jeans. After using the one pair for shorts I started looking through the pile of oldies and figured I could make a few more pair of shorts. But the one pair that caught my eye was a pair that I had spilled printer toner on just above the knee. I don’t know why I was saving them because I tried and tried to get the toner out but all I could do was lighten it some. This is where brainstorm two came into play.
I also had a stack of appliques I’ve embroidered over the years so I picked out two that were the perfect size to sew over the toner stains. It’s perfect, now I have a new pair of jeans shorts AND a new pair of jeans that didn’t cost me anything except reducing the old jean pile in my closet!
Next time you think you have something in your closet that is worthless you may want to think again. I did great on my all awesome value!
This concludes the September Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge and it has been so much fun hosting this challenge with my blogger friend Jeanine Byers! Back in August we were talking about looking for ideas for another challenge to get us ready for the October Ultimate Blog Challenge. Next thing we knew we put the word out to other bloggers and we started this challenge!
Thank you to all who joined in on the first CCBC and I must say some of the daily prompts were more of a challenge than we’ve ever had! But we did it and everyone had they own interpretation and ideas, that’s what the exciting part was. We will be back for another Cornerstone Content Blog Challenge in December so be ready for more excitement!
I love the blogging world. We all love, help and support one another.
That’s what’s great about it Brenda. No putting people down just building them up. I love the blogging world!
We did it! It was wonderful to host the challenge with you, Martha!! And wow, I can’t believe your ingenuity and creativity with those jeans. That is awesome value, indeed. Nothing beats free!
I loved creating this blog challenge with you Jeanine! We make a great team! 🤗 As for my shorts I’m from the old school where I was taught by my mother and grandmother to be thrifty. I think they would both be proud of me Jeanine.
I love to take my old jeans and make them into shorts.
You think like me, it’s a great way to save money Amanda!
