As Lia and I were doing some baking we were trying to come up with a word that started with “K” for our A to Z Challenge and our minds were blank. Then it hit me, we’re in the KITCHEN so A to Z Kitchen sounds perfect since that’s one of Lia’s favorite places to be for baking and cooking.

You might say Lia’s been baking almost her entire life. She started baking cookies with mommy and me when she was 11 months old. Her first cookies were chocolate chip of course, they are everyone’s all time favorite!

By the time she was 14 months old Lia was well on her way to fancy baking! Look at these cake pops she helped make. I think this is were she got her love for sprinkles!

The most excitement in the kitchen was when we had our kitchen remodeled when I was doing my de-clutter challenge in January! We planned on just getting new granite countertops but Rich surprised me and said we’re getting new cupboards also! The cupboards are 36″ high compared to the old ones that were 30″ and does that extra 6″ make a huge difference not only in storage but in looks. With the deep crown molding I now keep the tops of the cabinets clutter free! The other change was a corner cupboard where we had a blind cupboard with dead space. I love how the corner holds so much more! The countertops have rounded corners and no more jabbing hips in the corner! When I put everything back in the cupboards and on the countertops, I told myself I don’t want clutter on them any more! I have one cupboard for our gadgets that use to by on the counters and now they look so nice being clutter free! Lia was so excited when we moved all her baking supplies into a cupboard just for her! Look at the before and after of her cupboard! This is the blog about our new kitchen. http://themarthareview.com/our-kitchen-is-de-cluttered/

Not to be outdone with our new kitchen Lia also got one for her Princess Playroom! She was so excited to see such a big kitchen compared to her little plastic one! She now cooks eggs and bakes cakes almost everyday in her play kitchen! There’s a saying that goes something like a woman’s place is in the kitchen. Whether Lia is in the real kitchen cooking or in her play kitchen, she loves being in the kitchen! http://themarthareview.com/lias-new-kitchen/

Since Lia has gotten older she has expanded her cooking and baking skills. I’ll be making dinner and she runs over and says “Let me help you cook ma!” She has made stuffed artichokes, cauliflower and broccoli salad and homemade crab cakes. I hope she continues to love cooking and baking and the memories we make in the kitchen will stay with her as she grows up. Just like the ones her mommy made with me when she was Lia’s age and the ones I made with my grandmother when I would be in the kitchen with her. If you want to see some of our delicious, healthy and quick, inexpensive recipes, visit our In the Kitchen category in our blog.

One more thing that Lia loves to do in the kitchen………..the dishes! Everytime when she is finished baking, she pushes her step over to the sink to do the dishes! We tell her we’ll get them later but she has to clean up as soon as she’s done!

I enjoy being in the kitchen with Lia and I hope you enjoyed reading about our A to Z Kitchen, just another blog about what Lia and I cook, bake, create, or whatever! What is your favorite thing to bake or cook in the kitchen?
