A to Z Food Challenge – R

WOW do I have a list for the A to Z Food Challenge – R! From Rhubarb, Radishes, Rice, Raspberries, Rice Krispies, Rabbit and Reddi Whip to name a few.

I don’t have a picture of Rhubarb but I remember when I was young, my dad had a row of rhubarb planted behind our garage. I was in charge of checking the stalks and when they turned deep red they were ready to be picked so my grandmother could make homemade rhubarb jam and pie.

I’m also not a fan of Radishes but we grew them in our garden also and I would help my dad pull them when ready. Some of our radishes where the size of a golf ball!

So on to Rice! I love rice more than potatoes. A few years ago I had to cut out white rice because of health reasons and switched to brown rice. I like them both but occasionally I eat white rice in moderation.

My new favorite rice is riced cauliflower. I add cauliflower in my Ninja and pulse it until it looks like rice. I love to cook the riced cauliflower and add sliced almonds to it. Riced cauliflower can also be frozen so I have it on hand whenever I want to cook some up.

Lia and I love Rice Krispies with cut up banana. They are made of crisped rice and I can still hear the snap, crackle, pop like I did when I was a kid.

Have you ever eaten Rabbit? Shortly after I met my now hubby about 55 years, he was cooking up a big pot of sauce and chicken. As the dish was passed around I put some on the macaroni and it was delicious. It wasn’t until after dinner when he told me it wasn’t chicken, it was rabbit!

These hidden Raspberries covered with dark chocolate are delicious as a quick snack. They are so rich, only a few are need for your sweet tooth.

I love tea, both hot or cold. This Raspberry Herbal Tea is delicious and great for sipping while relaxing and reading blogs!

But wait, just as I was finishing up my A to Z Food Challenge – R, I was hungry so I went to get a bowl of cereal. Look what it is!!! It’s Radiant Raspberry cereal. This is an Activated Superfood Cereal that is delicious with milk but I also love to add some to my yogurt or eat it right from the bag.

I hope you enjoyed the A to Z Food Challenge – R and if you haven’t tried Riced cauliflower, go try it!

  1. I love radishes. I add them to many things. Rabbit- not kosher. Rhubarb- I’ll eat it, but I won’t go out of my way to buy it.Raspberries- when the prices are not exorbitant.

  2. What an amazing list of R foods! And I love rice, too. You’re making me want some for dinner. 🙂

Have you ever tried fried radishes? You might like them. As for cauliflower rice, I am having a pizza later this afternoon and the crust is made with cauliflower rice. It work for me. I also am a fan of German Beef Rouladen, which is usually made with bacon, onion, mustard, and pickles that are wrapped in thin slliced beef and then cooked.

Hmmm, never tried fried radishes Chef William. I love cauliflower prepared everyway but since I found cauliflower rice, that’s one of my favorites! I’m German, maybe I should try the Beef Rouladen!
