A to Z Food Challenge – P
Moving right along on the A to Z Food Challenge – P, I only have 10 days left in this challenge! So what’s looking good for the letter “P”?
The Peppers are looking great! We had a good crop of peppers in our garden and Lia was out checking them every day she was with us. She would take her basket, look through the pepper plants and pull them off when they were ready.
I cut the peppers in quarters after I remove the seeds and freeze them so we can have “fresh” peppers when they are out of season. Lia helps me put them in freezer bags and date them.
But do you like stuffed peppers? My hubby does and a stuffed pepper makes a filling meal. I take a nice sized pepper that stands up straight and fill it with my stuffing. My stuffing is browned ground beef, add some onions and cook together. Next I add spaghetti sauce and cooked rice. I never measure, just add what I think is the right proportion. Stuff that in the pepper and bake until done, usually it takes about 30 minutes.
Did you know there are male and female peppers? The female has 4 bumps on the bottom, the male has 3. I like to use a female pepper for stuffing because she stands up straighter than the male. http://themarthareview.com/stuffed-peppers/ I hope you enjoyed our A to Z Food Challenge – P for Peppers!
I never heard of that. You snip out the seeds and the peppers stay vital longer… Will have to try that.
Will I never heard of snipping the seeds Roy. I usually cut the meaty part that attaches to the pepper that has the seeds out.
I am coming for dinner. I want your stuffed peppers. They look great. My husband and son does not like them. I can not remember the last time, I had stuffed peppers. Now, I want some.
I don’t like stuffed peppers Brenda so you can have mine! I’ll stick to my salmon.
I love stuffed peppers. Especially on a cold day.
Oh yes, great on a cold day, I like the stuffing too, it reminds me of Spanish Rice. Thanks for visiting Amanda.
