A Pit In Your Stomach
You get a pit in your stomach when fear sets in. You try to retrace your steps and realize you’ve only been one place. Do you have time to get back there before someone might find it before you get there? If not, they can keep the money just please return the rest of the wallet intact.
This is what happened the other day when my hubby realized his wallet wasn’t in his pocket. We had gone to the recycling center and then decided to drive down to the boat launch site and see if anyone was catching any fish.
As we were walking toward the dock, Rich realized he didn’t have his wallet. I asked if he was sure he put it in his pocket before leaving the house. Since he was wearing sweatpants, he slid it in the front pocket but now it was gone.
Retracing our steps, we started to drive as quickly as we could back to the recycling center. Hoping and praying that if someone did find it they would turn it in the the attendants. Along the way, Rich opened the driver side door of our truck thinking it may have fallen out of his pocket and slide off the seat. The door didn’t shut all the way so he opened it again and shut it fully. As we were stopped for a traffic light, Rich opened the door again and there was his wallet! It was standing on end between the seat and the door.
Rich figured when he got back in the truck at the recycling center, the seat belt must have pushed the wallet out of his pocket as he pulled the belt around him, landing on the space next to the door.
All this time we thought for sure it fell out at the recycling center but if it had fallen out of the truck on the three different times Rich opened the door while driving we have a feeling it would have been gone forever.
This is like a riddle, why didn’t the wallet fall out of the truck when he opened the door at the boat launch? Why didn’t it fall out the door when Rich opened the door while driving and then again for the second time as we headed back to the recycling center? Why did he see the wallet between the seat and door when he opened the door at the traffic light instead of it falling on the road?
There is only one answer, God was protecting the wallet and answered our prayers as we were hoping and praying the wallet would found it at the recycling center. The pit in the stomach went away and we thanked God for always following and protecting us.
This is an Angel my grandson from Indiana gave me for Christmas 2015, she has been riding in our trucks since then. Maybe she was watching over things also. From now on, I think the wallet will go in the center console when sweat pants are the driving attire.
thank you found the wallet and you are right, glad it didn’t fall out on the street or into the lake!!!
It was a scary and nerve-racking time until we found it Nancy!

Thank you Amanda, God was definitely with us!
Losing one’s wallet … even temporarily, can definitely trigger fear and anxiety. So glad Rich found his and all’s okay.
Thanks Kat, even though it was temporary and only about 15 minutes of fear it seemed like hours!
Martha I know that feeling, had it more times than I would like, but it almost always turns out as your situation did. It is a beautiful thing to feel and know we are watched over!
Yes indeed it’s a beautiful think knowing God is watching over us. Thanks for visiting Cindy.
Thank goodness this story had a happy ending! I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach as I was reading it.
