A Little About Me

Most of my blogger friends know me and what I like to blog about but for those that are new, I want to share a little about me to you. I met a handsome guy on a blind date on Christmas Day 1965 when I was 16, he was just back from serving in the US Army and safely home from Vietnam at 19. I graduated high school in June 1967 and we got married on July 29, 1967. We have two daughters, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, scattered all around the United States. You could say we had a storybook love life and this is my blog I wrote about True Love is Forever Strong. We owned and operated an interior decorating business for over 50 years, retiring in 2018. Rich was my first and only love.

But my world feel about on March 31, 2024, Easter morning. I came downstairs, Rich and I gave our good morning hug and kiss and said Happy Easter. Then he told me he didn’t get my card made yet (he always made me cards or little notes since we first met) but I told him I don’t need a card, I have you.

Ten minutes later the love of my life, the other half of me had a massive heart attack and left me. I was and still am devastated after 59 years together. I tell people I’m not a widow, I’m still married but my husband has wings and we will meet again and continue our love life.

Back to my blog, I had a freebie Word Press account when I was doing product reviews but my grandson CJ suggested I step up my game and he helped me with my own domain name and everything else that goes along with a blog that I didn’t have a clue about. The Martha Review was born on Christmas Day 2014.

I also added more categories and before I knew it I was blogging about lifestyle, food, saving money and couponing along with my product reviews. A few days into January 2016 I found out about the Ultimate Blog Challenge and thought I’d give it a try. I wrote blogs to catch up from the 1st and completed my first UBC. I was so excited, I had already met new blogger friends and I was hooked on this awesome site.

Fast forward to 2018 when our fifth great grandbaby was born I made her a little fuzzy Minky blanket and people were telling me I should add Minky blankets along with our interior decorating. So that’s how Mama’s Minky’s was born. Lia was the “model” for many of the blankets and when she was a year old, we gave her the title of Minky Inspector and she then went on to help me sew them.

It wasn’t long after that, when I got children’s products to review, I would have Lia check them out so she has been working all her life! LOL

Lia turned six years old in August but she has had her blog category Lia’s Liking the Baby Blogger since she was about 2 years old. As she got older she told me she’s not a baby anymore so we changed her category to A Day in Lia’s Shoes. She writes her stories, with my help, about her gardening, baking, her puppy, school and the past four years she has been sharing about Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Alzheimer’s Fundraiser.

I’m not sure what this month will bring as Snowball and I are so lost but I know Rich is watching over and guiding us along, he was always a big supporter of my blogging. One thing I know, I’m looking forward to reading your blogs!

Thanks Jeanine, he will always be with me. It’ so hard some days but then I think how he would want me to keep going for others. I know he’s waiting for me and we will be together when it’s my time.
