7th Anniversary

I like to come up with unique ideas for gifts and last summer when my daughter and son-in-law’s 7th anniversary was near I got busy on a project. The 7th year is copper so I started looking around for something copper. I found an owl that was copper color and since they like owls I figured that would be a nice addition to their garden. But I like to be creative with gifts so I needed something really different.

Then it hit me, pennies are copper or at least part copper and the color was right! I decided to search for pennies dated from 2018 through 2025. I did good, found each year except 2025. I went to the bank and asked if they had any but they didn’t. Every time I got change I would look at the date, nope no 2025. Then I happened to stop at McDonald’s and while at the register I asked my friend who works there if she could be on the lookout for a 2025 penny. She starter looking through the pennies in the cash register and FOUND ONE!!! I had all the pennies now I could start my project.

I had two photos, one from Chris and Bryon’s wedding and then another silly face photo taken one of the recent times we were together.

And this is the finished project, a number 7 made with the pennies from 2019 through 2025. To the left of their wedding picture I added the 2018, the year they were married. Their wedding color was lavender and I just happened to have a piece of construction paper the perfect color.

Since pennies are no longer being minted, it worked out perfect to have their 7th anniversary just before the stopped making pennies. Did you notice the date, 8/18/18? It can be reversed and it’s the same date!

Do you like to come up with one of a kind ideas for gifts? My favorite gifts are ones that are handmade, I call them gifts from the heart.

I know it’s Wordless Wednesday but I had way too many words to add that to the title. LOL

  1. Hi Martha! I love the idea of using the pennies, so creative! You make me think I should start looking at mine and save some special years, also. I love to be creative. Since I moved after my home flooded in 2024, I have formed friendships with everyone on my street, and once a month, we celebrate birthdays at a lunch. I decided I would never buy a card, I paint and letter the card and envelope. Some months, there are 6 people, so it is a multi-day creation event. It feels so good to see them smile when they open my card. Each of these lovely ladies is special, and I hope they can tell I feel that way. For me, that is why creating for others is so much better than buying. I love your Anniversary present! Thank you for sharing!

That’s so great Cindy to celebrate birthdays with friends. I too never buy cards, I like to make my own cards and gifts. Most are one of a kind and unique to the person I’m making it for. I’ve always said handmade gifts come from the heart and I too love to see the person smile when they open a card of gift. Start saving your pennies since we can’t spend them, we can make cards and gifts!

Thanks Tamara, I love being creative and coming up with unique gift ideas. Who would have thought I’d find the 2025 penny at McDonald’s! I have another project I will unveil on January 25th!
