2023 Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Totals

For today’s Friday Story Time by Lia I’m sharing the results of my 2023 Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Alzheimer’s Fundraiser totals.

South Carolina Stats (Note from Ma)

The South Carolina Chapter raised $190,000 thanks to all the great people who donated to the 2023 fundraiser. To become a Solstice Champion, an individual or team must reach $1600 in donations. South Carolina had 30 Solstice Champions who together raised $135,490 – 71% of total revenue! That’s awesome and again we wouldn’t have reached this amount if it wasn’t for you!

Lia’s Sunshine Bakery Fundraiser

I started my 2nd year of the Alzheimer’s Fundraiser October 2022 and it started with a bake sale and garage sale. My bake sale was a sell out and I raised $240.00 in donations!

When I started my bake sales, Ma made up labels on Canva for the cookie boxes. This was one of the first time I used Canva and I added the sunshine! Ma’s and my FB friend Brenda, started calling me “Lil Ms. Sunshine a long time ago so that’s how we came up with the name of Lia’s Sunshine Bakery.

For Christmas I had another bake sale but it was different. I posted on our community bulletin board for anyone who donated $10 during the week before Christmas, I would deliver a box of cookies to them just in time of Christmas. Each box had Italian cookies, chocolate chip, pumpkin cookies, peanut butter fudge and my super delicious brownies with sprinkles. My goal was to raise $210 but I went over that goal and received $260 in donations! One of our neighbor’s love my cookies and he donated $50 to get lots of cookies and brownies!!

In between my bake sales, I had so many Facebook friends, local friends and families and even people I didn’t know make online donations to my Alzheimer’s fundraiser.

But my next big sale was for our community garage sale in April. Ma and I were busy baking just before the sale and we even added doggy biscuits for this one! When our sale started we could see it might rain so I set up my bake sale table under the porch.

We had so many people stop at the garage sale and again my bake sale was a sell out! We had a rainout date for the next Saturday so ma and I whipped up a few more cookies and doggy biscuits. I made peanut butter and also sweet potato dog biscuits and all the dogs loved them! Ma even added my bakery initials on the biscuits! I raised over $500 from the spring garage and bake sale!

The 2023 Alzheimer’s Fundraiser ended August 31 and my grand total of donations raised was $2150! My total raised in the 2022 fundraiser was $1780 so I was very happy with my hard work to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

My great, great grandma (Ma’s mom) had Alzheimer’s and while she passed away before I was born, ma always shares memories about her to me. This is a picture of my great, great grandma with Pop and my mommy.

I received awards for being a Solstice Champion, raising at least $1600, being one of the top 25 teams and individuals in donations and also the Purple Passion Award for the individual showing the most passion for the cause.

I was excited to meet Betsy the head of the SC chapter administrator when she came over to present me with my awards and ma and I also handed her a big fat check of our $2150.00 in donations!

Ma is hoping that Alzheimer’s and Dementia will not be around when my mommy and I get older. Thank you all for your donations, sharing my posts and being a great friend!

Lia loves baking and this is a good way to teach her about helping others Jeanine. Of course she has to do some taste testing too, even I do! LOL
