2022 Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Finale
It’s Friday Story Time by Lia and last night was the 2022 Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Finale which I have participated in for the past few months.
Most of my readers know I’ve been participating in the Alzheimer’s The Longest Day Fundraiser for the past few months. Last night I attended the Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Finale Zoom celebration for South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia district.
On June 21, 2022, the longest day of the year and summer solstice, thousands of people joined together in spirit to show their love for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
I joined in on The Longest Day in honor and memory of my great, great grandmother who passed away from Alzheimer’s when my mommy was about my age. Then my little neighbor lady who I’ve been friends with since I was a baby passed away about a month ago from Dementia.
During our Zoom celebration the hosts mentioned that the district had 96 participants that were Solstice Champions with their donations reaching $1,600.00. When I started Lia’s Sunshine Bakery fundraiser team, Ma suggested to set my goal to raise $300.00 but mommy said make it $500.00.
Was I surprised when I saw that because of all my great friends I reached Solstice Champion and more! The total amount of donations I received was $1,780.00!! I put out a plea when I needed $30.00 more and one of my special friends who already donated, sent an extra $30.00!! I’m in the process of creating a one of a kind painting to send to Susan A.!
I’m also one of the top 25 SC ALZ STARZ and again it’s all because of the great people that donated!
During the Zoom party they had a slide show and my bake sale picture was there! Look, there I am!! I had so much fun doing Lia’s Sunshine Bakery fundraiser!
This was another picture on the slide show and both Harry and I were congratulated for being the youngest participants to have teams!
In the SC, NC and Georgia district there were 1,167 participants and a big thank you was sent out to all of them. What a great time I had at the Alzheimer’s Fundraiser Finale celebration! But now it’s my turn to send out a big THANK YOU to all my friends, family, and even strangers who donated to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease!
I’m sending you all a super big hug and smile! Love you all!!
so very wonderful!! and so proud of you Lia.. always glad to be on your team
Thank you Vidya and thanks for helping me reach my goal and more!
Great job Lia! I’m so proud of you. You are not alone. My grandma, who raised me since I was sixteen years old, died in 2018 from Alzheimer’s.
I hope one day they find a cure for it.
Awww, Lia and I are so sorry to hear that your grandma had Alzheimer’s also. We need to find a cure so our younger generations will not have to go through the suffering. Thanks for visiting Harris’InkWell.
